Day 5: The Promise Is Greater Than the Pain

Day 5: The Promise Is Greater Than the Pain
Reading:
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Isaiah 43:18-19
18 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. 19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

Devotional:
Divorce is not the end. Bankruptcy is not the end. Betrayal is not the end. Failure is not the end. These painful situations do not define you—they can be the starting place for receiving God's blessing.

God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Notice the verse doesn't stop at "work together"—it continues with purpose. Your pain has purpose when surrendered to God's will and way.

Hagar's well was there all along, provided by someone else's abandoned effort. God has hidden resources already in place for you. Stop focusing so intently on the problem that you miss the provision. Let God open your eyes to see what He has already prepared.

Your prayer today: "Lord, Your will, Your way." Move when He says move. Stay when He says stay. Trust that the promise is always greater than the pain. He has never failed you yet, and He will do it again.
