Day 2: Scars Tell Stories of Healing
Reading:
John 20:24-29 One of the twelve disciples, Thomas (nicknamed the Twin), was not with the others when Jesus came. They told him, "We have seen the Lord!" But he replied, "I won't believe it unless I see the nail wounds in his hands, put my fingers into them, and place my hand into his side." Eight days later, the disciples were together again, and this time Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you." Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here, and see my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don't be faithless but believe." Thomas exclaimed, "My Lord and my God!" Then Jesus told him, "You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me."
Isaiah 53:5
But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.

After His resurrection, Jesus still bore the scars of crucifixion. These weren't open wounds but healed marks, evidence of suffering transformed into victory. Your scars tell a similar story. Forgiveness doesn't erase your memory or pretend pain never happened; it transforms bleeding wounds into closed scars. You can remember what happened without it controlling you. The difference between a wound and a scar is healing. Wounds are sensitive, raw, and painful to touch. Scars can be looked at, even touched, without causing pain. God doesn't ask you to forget your story, He invites you to let Him heal it. Today, bring your open wounds to the Great Physician. Let Him bind them, heal them, and transform them into testimonies of His redemptive power.
