Day 5: God Never Said That - Part 1
Day 5: Casting Your Cares
Reading: 1 Peter 5:6-7
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
Devotional: "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." The word "cast" implies forceful action, throwing, hurling, releasing with intention. God doesn't want you to manage your anxieties better; He wants you to transfer them completely to Him. Why? Because He cares for you. Your burdens matter to God not because they're small enough for you to handle, but because you're precious enough for Him to carry. Today, practice the discipline of casting. Name each anxiety, each overwhelming circumstance, and consciously release it to God. This isn't denial, it's trust. It's believing that the God who holds the universe can certainly hold your life.
Reflection: What specific anxiety will you cast on God today, trusting His care for you?
Closing Prayer
Father, forgive us for believing we must be strong enough on our own. Thank You that Your power is perfected in our weakness. Teach us the freedom of dependence, the strength found in surrender, and the peace that comes from casting our cares on You. When life gives us more than we can handle, remind us it's never more than You can handle. We choose to rely on You alone. In Jesus' name, Amen.
